I dreamt of my grandmother

dressed in a kimono

face painted

ceremonial

We bowed to each other politely

It felt a lot like our relationship

when she was alive

respectful

polite

I turned to walk away

then turned back to her

I hugged her

my arms around her neck

because I am a grown up now

and she,

she was very short

I just cried and cried

as I hugged her tight

It was warm

just a grown up girl

and her grandma

and not at all polite.
