Letter 94

Dear You,

You arrived

just as the sun tucked itself away

behind the horizon

my girls greeted you with warm hugs

and wide smiles

we sat on my 6th grade bed

your work feet smell

filled my room

and I only minded a little

I asked you if you know

that I am your person

and we just stared

I looked into your blue

and you into my gold

“You are so pretty.”

I can’t remember the last time

you looked at me like that

and said those words

you held my hand

and I cried

because I believe you

your opinion

is the only one that has ever mattered

besides my own

and even then

maybe mine matters just a little less

We kissed and I straddled

your skin and bone

To be continued…

Love, Me
